MotoGP has officially announced that the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will host the season finale on November 17, replacing Valencia GP, which was cancelled due to catastrophic flooding in region.
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is officially confirmed to host the season finale on November 17, despite having already held the sixth round in May. This change follows the cancellation of the Valencia race due to severe flooding in recent days.
The championship promoter, Dorna, had previously indicated that more details about the final round would be shared soon as they worked quickly to find a replacement.
Barcelona has emerged as the preferred option over Qatar, which was initially considered the leading alternative. Many teams, particularly in Moto2 and Moto3, preferred Barcelona due to their limited budgets at this point in the season, as returning to Doha would have created financial difficulties for several of them.
Although Qatar might appear to offer logistical advantages and fewer emotional ties, it also comes with its own logistical challenges as well because Qatar is set to host a Formula 1 race on December 1.
As per official message from MotoGP, additional information for fans planning to attend the 2024 title decider will be provided soon, along with details about various initiatives throughout the weekend to support Valencia's relief efforts.
