Yamaha Motor Co. and Yamaha Motor Racing confirmed Augusto Fernandez as a factory testing rider for the 2025 season.
Fernandez brings a wealth of experience, having competed in MotoGP for only two seasons. However, despite the short time, he has shown an impressive track record and deep familiarity with the MotoGP paddock, establishing himself as a notable figure in motorsports.
Beginning with the MotoGP shakedown test in Sepang, from January 31 to February 2, Fernandez will officially take on his new role, testing the YZR-M1.
Throughout 2025, Fernandez will participate in Official IRTA tests, private Yamaha testing sessions, and appear as a wildcard, contributing to the development of Yamaha’s bike and supporting the engineering team’s advancement programme.
Augusto Fernandez: "I'm very happy and super excited to join Yamaha as a test rider for 2025. It's a huge honour to be part of the Yamaha family, and I want to thank everyone who made it happen.
"In this amazing new project, I will do my best to help Yamaha to be back where they deserve to be.
"I can't wait to start our journey together!"
