News.gp journalist and a girl with big dreamsAlpine kicked off its 2025 Formula 1 season on Monday by taking its new A525 car out on track for the first time at the Bahrain International Circuit.
Just a few days after showing off its fresh blue and pink design at London’s O2 Arena, the team put the car through a short test, using one of its two allowed filming days.
Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan took turns behind the wheel, covering 200km while also giving fans a first look at the team’s new sponsors, including Eni, MSC, OAKBERRY, Mercado Libre, Arctic Wolf, Castore, and MODO Casino joining title sponsor BWT.
For Doohan, this was an especially big moment as it was his first time taking part in an F1 shakedown. “It was a really good first day on track here in Bahrain, and I think the whole team is excited to be back and ready for the season,” he said.
“This was my first time driving in a shakedown, so it was a great experience—especially being out on track with the filming vehicles. The car felt good, so I have to thank everyone at Enstone and Viry-Châtillon for their hard work in getting ready for 2025.”
Looking ahead, he added: “Pierre and I are really looking forward to pre-season testing on Wednesday. We have a busy three days coming up where we’ll run through a lot of things to help develop the A525 before the season begins.”
Gasly was also happy to be back in the car and praised the work that went into getting the A525 ready. “It always feels great to drive a new car for the first time. Big thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to make this happen,” he said.
Although the running was limited, he was pleased with how the car felt. “Since this was just a shakedown, we weren’t driving at full speed, but the first impressions were positive. I’m looking forward to getting some proper laps in later this week during testing.”
He also commented on the car’s look, adding, “The new colors look amazing on track, so I hope the fans enjoy seeing the A525 in action.”
