The Monster Yamaha MotoGP team initiated the first of four scheduled visits to Misano with an intensive two-day private test. Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins led the charge, joined by Andrea Dovizioso. The test provided valuable data as teams prepare for the upcoming San Marino GP and Emilia Romagna GP in September.
The Monster Yamaha MotoGP team began the first of their four planned visits to the Misano circuit over the next month with a two-day private test at the iconic Italian track this week.
Riders Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins led Yamaha’s efforts during the test, joined by Andrea Dovizioso, who stepped in for the injured Cal Crutchlow. This test session marked a significant opportunity for the team to gather critical data as they continue the development of their bikes for the upcoming races.
In addition to the Yamaha team, Repsol Honda riders Joan Mir and Luca Marini also participated on the track, utilizing the testing concessions allowed under current MotoGP regulations.
Valentino Rossi made a special appearance at his home circuit, taking advantage of the opportunity to ride on familiar ground. Valentino completed several laps on his Yamaha R1, adding a nostalgic touch to the test. The Misano circuit is a regular training ground for the VR46 Academy riders, and this time was no exception. Francesco Bagnaia, Marco Bezzecchi, and Franco Morbidelli were present, riding their Ducati Panigale V4S machines.
KTM took part in the test with Dani Pedrosa, who was gathering data to improve the bike’s performance. Meanwhile, rookie star Pedro Acosta worked with WP Suspension on his Moto2 bike, continuing his development and preparation for future challenges. He was joined by Moto2 riders Manuel Gonzalez and Albert Arenas.
The test provided Yamaha with valuable data as they prepare for the upcoming San Marino GP on September 6-8, which will be followed by an official test on September 9, and then the Emilia Romagna GP on September 20-22. This event will be particularly notable as it marks the first time since the COVID-affected 2020 and 2021 seasons that the circuit will host two MotoGP rounds.
After wrapping up the two-day test, Fabio Quartararo shared his thoughts on social media, reflecting on the challenges his team faced in finding the optimal setup.
Takaaki Nakagami added a touch of humor to Quartararo’s post, replying, "We can share a grip!" This gesture showcased the camaraderie and light-hearted banter that exists within the MotoGP paddock despite the fierce competition. Alex Rins also posted on Instagram, sharing a video that included footage from his helmet visor, offering his fans a unique perspective of the test.
