After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, some Formula 1 drivers are staying in the city for the post-season test. Many young drivers will take the track alongside some familiar faces debuting with their new teams.

Tomorrow’s post-season test in Abu Dhabi will be the last chance for Formula 1 teams to gather important data before the winter break, while Pirelli, the sport’s tyre supplier, will focus on testing new tyres for the 2025 season.

Ten drivers will be involved in this tyre test, helping Pirelli understand how to improve the compounds. For the teams, it’s also an opportunity to collect data that might help with developing next year’s cars.

Some drivers who are switching teams will also get an early start with their new squads. Carlos Sainz will drive for Williams, Esteban Ocon will join Haas, and Nico Hülkenberg will take the wheel for Sauber. This gives them a chance to meet their new teams and get comfortable before the new season starts.

Yuki Tsunoda will get a special opportunity to drive a Red Bull RB20, his first time in a non-AlphaTauri/RB car since joining Formula 1.

The young driver test will also take place, giving less experienced drivers valuable track time. To qualify, they must have competed in fewer than two Grands Prix, which is why Oliver Bearman can’t participate as he has completed three races (one for Ferrari and two for Haas) this year.

In the rookie test, Aston Martin will split their time between Felipe Drugovich and Jak Crawford, while Mercedes and Sauber will focus on their rookies, Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Gabriel Bortoleto. Ryo Hirakawa, an endurance racing star, will drive for Haas after making his Formula 1 practice debut with McLaren last week.

Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, won’t take part in the test. Instead, he’ll spend time at Mercedes’ bases for farewell events before moving to Ferrari next year.
