News.gp journalist and a girl with big dreamsAfter a well-deserved break, the drivers are gradually returning to work with pre-season training. Take a glimpse at how they spent their final days off, including New Year’s Eve, when Ferrari officially welcomed Lewis Hamilton to the team.
On January 1st, at midnight, Lewis Hamilton officially became a Ferrari driver, leaving his successful long campaign with Mercedes in the past. To celebrate the new challenge, he shared on his Instagram a photo of his younger self karting while wearing a red helmet. Later on he also made this photo his profile picture.
Ferrari also welcomed Hamilton with an Instagram post, including the Briton's beloved dog Roscoe as well.
Today, January 7th, Lewis Hamilton also celebrates his 40th birthday and his new team definitely didn't forget to wish him "auguri"–happy birthday in Italian.
However, Hamilton wasn't the only one being welcomed at a new team. Williams also shared a post for Carlos Sainz, who officially became their driver at the same time as the Briton.
Pierre Gasly shared a cute photo from New Year's Eve with his girlfriend Kika Gomes, wishing everyone all the best in 2025.
Sauber rookie Gabriel Bortoleto posted a photo with his big family, while celebrating the calendar flip in his home country.
Yuki Tsunoda shared a few photos from the winter break with a caption: "relaxed, reset and ready for pre-season".
Carlos Sainz also enjoyed the time off, writing under his Instagram post that he is fully recharged and ready for a training camp.
