The winner of Saturday's qualifying was Lando Norris in Barcelona, confirming McLaren's current form. Max Verstappen finished just behind him.

However, the very start of the race was best for George Russell, who immediately went from fourth to first. Russell was followed by Verstappen and Norris. Russell didn't stay in the lead for long as he was soon passed by Verstappen.

Norris responded to the poor start to the race by delaying his first stop, but the strategy didn't help him in the end.

Verstappen controlled the lead throughout the race, with Norris gradually moving into second place. The McLaren driver even caught Verstappen late on, but there was no drama.

The Mercedes drivers' internal battle for third place was eventually won by Lewis Hamilton, who scored his first podium of the season.

Behind fourth-placed Russell, Charles Leclerc completed the top five.

Norris set the fastest lap of the race.
