News.gp journalist and a girl with big dreamsLiberty Media has announced that Stefano Domenicali will continue as Formula 1’s President and CEO until 2029 after signing a new five-year contract.
Since taking over from Chase Carey in 2021, he has played a key role in the sport’s rapid growth. Under his leadership, F1 introduced sprint races, expanded into new markets like Miami and Las Vegas, and secured long-term agreements with existing venues.
Expressing his excitement about the extension, Domenicali said: “I am honoured to continue to lead this incredible sport, which I love and has been part of my life since my childhood, and grateful to the Liberty Media Team for their trust.
"Together, with all the relevant F1 stakeholders, we will continue to serve the best interest of our fans, as they are the heartbeat of everything we do. The passion, the energy, and the adrenaline are the fuel that powers me every day to give my absolute best to Formula 1.”
Before leading F1, Domenicali had a long career in motorsport. He started at Ferrari in 1991, eventually becoming Team Principal in 2008 and leading the team to its last Constructors’ Championship. After leaving Ferrari in 2014, he worked at Audi and later became Chairman and CEO of Lamborghini, overseeing significant growth for the brand. His return to F1 in 2021 was backed by key figures such as Toto Wolff and Christian Horner.

With F1 now hosting a record 24 races per season and more regions eager to join the calendar, Domenicali’s leadership will be key in shaping the sport’s future. As he continues in his role, fans can expect Formula 1 to keep growing, bringing even more excitement to audiences around the world.
