Italian media came up with an interesting speculation. According to them, Ferrari’s Team Principal, Frederic Vasseur, tried to lure Verstappen’s race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, to Ferrari.

Rumours from the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport say that Ferrari tried to get Max Verstappen’s race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, often known as ‘GP’, to sign with them earlier this year. However, Lambiase reportedly rejected the offer.

The Italian team is gearing up for a fresh start in 2025 with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton set to join the forces. As it has already been announced before, his race engineer Peter Bonnington, with who Hamilton spent 12 seasons and won 6 titles, won’t follow him to Ferrari because of his new promotion at Mercedes.

Ferrari has been actively strengthening its F1 lineup, with Loic Serra also transitioning from Mercedes to take on the role of Head of Chassis Performance Engineering in October.

Ferrari is really attracted to Lambiase’s experience and great reputation in F1 as he is known for ‘being able to handle’ Max Verstappen. He has been with the reigning champion since he joined Red Bull in 2016 and helped him win his 3 world champion titles.

After Lambiase’s rejection, Hamilton’s race engineer for next season should become Riccardo Adami, who has worked with Sebastian Vettel during his Ferrari years and is now Carlos Sainz’s race engineer.
