Red Bull boss Christian Horner has suggested that the team was checking Franco Colapinto’s availability for 2025, raising questions about potential F1 seat coming from their side.

Franco Colapinto has become one of the most exciting young drivers in Formula 1 this season. His impressive performances have turned heads across the paddock, and even Red Bull—the current champions—seems to be interested.

While the idea of him not being on next year’s grid might seem unfair given his talent, it’s a realistic possibility due to the last not officially confirmed seats being in Sauber and RB.

However, with Sergio Perez struggling, Red Bull’s main team is reportedly exploring other options. Though they have two solid drivers in their academy, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda, the team has shown worries about promoting either one to a full-time spot.

This has led Red Bull to consider talent outside their junior programme, which is where Colapinto comes in, with Christian Horner’s comments only adding fuel to the speculation about the Argentinian’s future.

The Red Bull's team principal has recently praised Colapinto’s performance in the premier class and hinted that he is on their radar.

“Colapinto is an interesting driver,” said Horner quoted by German outlet Auto Motor und Sport.

“He is surprisingly much better than was suggested in Formula 2.

“I would be a bad team boss if I didn’t find out whether he was available.”

Williams boss James Vowles is committed to securing Colapinto a seat on next year’s grid, stating he doesn’t mind if it costs the team some F1 points in the future.
