If Max Verstappen secures the championship in Las Vegas, organizers have hinted at a celebration that will match the city’s vibrant party spirit.
After a masterful drive in the rainy Sao Paulo Grand Prix, where he climbed through the field and secured a victory after starting 17th, Max Verstappen is now within reach of his fourth straight F1 world champion title.
He heads to the Las Vegas Grand Prix with a solid 62-point lead over his nearest rival, Lando Norris. This means that if he out-scores the Briton by just three points in this race, he will secure his fourth title, becoming only the sixth driver in F1 history to achieve such a feat.
This year’s race could be especially exciting, as a title win in the USA would be a huge moment for F1’s growing popularity in the American market.
The Las Vegas event, only in its second year, is already known for its electric atmosphere along the famous Strip, where last year’s race saw plenty of drama, including lead changes, crashes, and intense overtakes.
This season, with the possibility of a championship celebration, the stakes are even higher. Regarding that, Las Vegas GP CEO Renee Wilm mentioned that they’re planning something special in case Verstappen takes the title on Saturday night.
"I'm sure that we would be able to pull some ideas out of our hat, maybe pre-arrange some pretty exciting opportunities," she told Motorsport.com.
"When you consider the properties on the Strip - Wynn and Encore are second to none in terms of the highest class of hospitality.
"Then, of course, you have the Bellagio further down the Strip, with those iconic fountains, and the level of VIP service that the Bellagio offers.
"There are so many opportunities to highlight the drivers, and particularly if we actually do have the benefit of being able to get a champion [crowned]."
Similarly, Red Bull is also preparing to celebrate its star driver in full glory if he clinches the championship next weekend.
