Isack Hadjar, who is currently second in the F2 championship standings, believes he is the next one to get promoted to F1 with one of the Red Bull teams.

With the Sauber seat confirmed, only one spot remains open for next year’s Formula 1 season at Red Bull as Daniel Ricciardo’s replacement, Liam Lawson, currently has a contract that runs only until the end of 2024.

As teams prepare for 2025, there’s a lot of talk about who will drive for Red Bull and RB. Max Verstappen’s spot at Red Bull is locked in, but the rest of the lineups aren’t as clear, and changes could be on the way.

As Sergio Perez continues to struggle and Liam Lawson impresses with his performances, rumors have been circulating that the New Zealander could be the perfect candidate to replace Perez and move up to in 2025.

At the same time, Red Bull has several talented drivers in their junior programme, and any changes they make are likely to impact their sister team. This means, if a spot opens at Red Bull, it’s expected that someone would get promoted from RB, which would then need to fill the vacancy.

This could be a big chance for Isack Hadjar, talented F2 driver, who’s been named as both teams’ reserve driver, after Lawson replaced Ricciardo, and is ready to step up if needed.

With two rounds to go in Formula 2, the French driver currently holds second position in the championship, only 4.5 points behind Gabriel Bortoleto, who has already secured his 2025 F1 seat. He is also expected to take part as Red Bull’s second rookie in the first practice session during one of the three remaining F1 weekends, to fulfill the mandatory rule.

At this moment, Hadjar believes he is next in line for a seat with one of Red Bull teams, although he acknowledges that his future doesn't depend on it at this stage.

"I would say that my chances exist, at least," he told Motorsport.com.

"Obviously, it does not depend on me.

"A lot of things are happening at Racing Bulls [RB] and Red Bull, anything can happen. And obviously, I am next on the list. It is just a fact.

"I do not know what decisions they will make, but in any case, I am here and I try to be ready for next year whatever happens."

When asked about Franco Colapinto, who recently emerged as one of the candidates for both of the seats, thanks to his great results after replacing Logan Sargeant in Williams, Hadjar shifted the focus to his own qualifications, stating that he wouldn’t be satisfied if he doesn’t get the promotion, should a seat become available.

"Yes, they [Red Bull/RB] are looking for a fast driver, and he has proven that he is," he adressed.

"So, yes, obviously, I have been part of a programme for three years, I am second in F2, I am the team's reserve, so... that's how it is.

"I would not be satisfied, obviously, because you want to drive. But if that is what has to be done, then I will do it and I will think about the future."
