News.gp journalist and a girl with big dreamsMax Verstappen has revealed his helmet for the 2025 season, where he will try to match Michael Schumacher's record of five consecutive championships.
This year, Verstappen has chosen a design similar to the one he used when he first started racing in karting. The look is based on the helmet worn by his father, Jos Verstappen, during his F1 career.
“This helmet design is basically similar to when I started racing, when I was four years old,” Verstappen explained in a video.
“It was based on my dad’s design, and I’m definitely very proud of that. When I started racing, my dad’s helmet design was very important to me. That was the helmet I really liked and which I am very proud to wear.”
The new helmet features four stars, representing Verstappen’s four world championships. As the current title holder, he also will continue racing with the number 1, like in previous years.
Additionally, Verstappen pointed out some small details in the design, like the red and blue lines from the Dutch flag and the lion symbol on top.
“I’ve tried to keep it as simple as possible, which I enjoy, with, of course, the lion on the top,” he said.
“It’s definitely, you could say, our family’s design. Some details have changed, but in general, it’s back to the roots. I’m very happy with it.”
