News.gp journalist and a girl with big dreamsThe FIA has decided to temporarily shorten the curfew for Formula 1 teams ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix due to delays in getting equipment to Shanghai.
These issues primarily affected Pirelli, the championship’s tyre supplier, which faced logistical challenges that disrupted the tyre fitting schedule. To support both the teams and Pirelli in preparing for the race at the Shanghai International Circuit, the governing body granted a one-night exemption.
In a statement to all ten teams, the FIA confirmed that the usual overnight curfew, typically lasting 11 and a half hours, will be reduced by five and a half hours on Wednesday, 19 March. This means the curfew for that night will be just six hours. However, the exemption applies only to tyre-related work, with a maximum of six operational staff members per team allowed to use the additional time.
By granting teams extra time for tyre preparations, the FIA aims to keep everything running smoothly and ensure a well-organised race weekend.
