Ferrari has announced that Loic Serra, a key signing from Mercedes, will join the team in October as he has been given a vital job role.
Ferrari made a public announcement that Loic Serra will become a part of the team on October 1st. The Italian team managed to close this important deal with Serra already last year in July, however, today was officially confirmed what kind of responsibilities he will hold in Maranello.
Originally, 52-year-old experienced Serra worked for Mercedes as a Performance Director. At Ferrari, he will take up the position of Head of Chassis Performance Engineering. In this role, Serra will oversee the chassis project engineering, vehicle performance, aerodynamics, track engineering, and chassis operations departments for the car.
The leaders of the mentioned departments, Fabio Montecchi, Marco Aduno, Diego Tondi, Matteo Togninalli, and Diego Ioverno, will report directly to Serra, who will then report to the Team Principal Frederic Vasseur, who had temporarily taken over the role when Enrico Cardile after many years with the Italian team left to Aston Martin earlier this year.
No changes in the Technical Director for the Power Unit as Enrico Gualtieri, who reports straight to Vasseur as well, will continue his journey with the Scuderia.
Loic Serra with Jerome D'Ambrosio, who was appointed as Deputy Team Principal, are very high-profile captures for Ferrari, who they put lots of trust in, the same as Lewis Hamilton, who Ferrari managed to amazingly steal from Mercedes as well at the beginning of the year.
