Fernando Alonso will miss media day at the São Paulo Grand Prix as he continues treatment for a health issue.

The Aston Martin driver was also absent from media duties before last week's Mexico City race after feeling unwell, and he has since been diagnosed with an intestinal infection.

Between the Mexico and Brazil races, Alonso returned to Europe for specialist treatment. However, his recovery needed an extra day, delaying his travel plans to Brazil.

Aston Martin has confirmed that he will be ready for the race weekend, and Brazilian reserve driver Felipe Drugovich will handle Alonso’s media responsibilities.

Last week, Alonso skipped the pre-race media session at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez but was able to compete in his milestone 400th F1 weekend, only missing FP1 as Felipe Drugovich took over the wheel to fullfil the mandatory F1 rule for Aston Martin.

With Alonso’s condition improving, he is expected to arrive in Brazil on time for practice on Friday, though he will once again sit out Thursday’s media events.
